DIY Peppermint Orange All-Purpose Spray

My favorite way to celebrate the change of the seasons is with amazing smelling cleaning products! I like flower scents, such as lavender, for spring, citrus in the summer, cinnamon in the fall, and peppermint in the winter! This all purpose spray has the base recipe I use for all my all purpose cleaners year round. All I do once the season changes is swap out which essential oils I use!

The combination of the peppermint and orange just smells like the holidays to me! I love having my home smell like candy canes all december long! This is a super quick and easy recipe that cleans well, disinfects, and is so much cheaper than buying holiday scented cleaning sprays from the store. I usually can get 1-2 months of use out of the ingredients I initially buy for it.

You could use just the peppermint, but I like to do 20 drops of orange and 10 drops of peppermint since the scent is SOOO strong. If you use just the peppermint, I would recommend still ust using 10 drops. It is a VERY powerful scent and will be overwhelming if you use the full 30 drops of peppermint essential oil.

Start by pouring about 3 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol in the bottom of a spray bottle. You are going to want to use a good spray bottle that will stay working after a long time, not a cheap quality one that will break after a few uses. I like to reuse my Method cleaner spray bottles.

Add 20 drops of the orange essential oil….

and 10 drops of the peppermint essential oil. Swirl the essential oils and the rubbing alcohol together in the bottom of the spray bottle for about a minute. This will help the essential oils to not separate from the spray later on.

Now add in 3 tablespoons of a non-toxic, fragrance free dish soap (I like to use this one! I only use it for making my cleaning sprays so it lasts a long time!) Swirl it around again gently to mix in the dish soap. If you want to add color, add some soap dye at this point and swirl it around to combine.

Add in 3 1/2 cups of warm water slowly with a funnel to prevent suds making a mess.

Now your homemade all-purpose cleaner is ready to go! Happy holidays and happy cleaning y’all!!! 🙂
