About

Welcome to Ten at the Table!

Ten at the Table began is 2014 while I was a freshman in high school. My parents had 8 children (hence the name Ten at the Table) and we were all home-schooled and since my mother worked full time I (as the oldest daughter) ended up preparing the majority of the meals. Which is a LOT of homemade food. We made fresh bread every day, a gallon of homemade yogurt at a time to go with fresh berries from our garden, and LARGE amounts of food for dinner. We usually doubled or tripled every recipe even though there was 8 kids, we were all hungry growing active kids so we ate a lot.

Pioneer Woman was my go to for recipes, learning how to cook step by step, and ended up being a real role model for me! Food became my passion, and taking care of my siblings gave me such satisfaction I can’t put it into words. Knowing my family would have great tasting, homemade food, that would fill them up and be somewhat good for them was the only thing I cared about.  I started taking pictures of the food I was cooking for my family and posted them to my first blog, which is now deleted because the pictures were horrendous haha!

Fast forward to the present and i am now moved out of my parent house, married, with 2 adorable babies and working full time as a blogger. Which I LOVE because I get to see my babies all day and they don’t have to go to daycare. Once again, I get tremendous satisfaction out of feeding my present family good food that they will enjoy eating. They are both picky eaters and my son is vegan due to allergies so I really gotta put forth the effort in finding new recipes they (and mommy and daddy) will enjoy eating and be somewhat healthy at the same time.

My sweet husband is the best father to our kids a woman could ask for and I could not do what I do every day without him supporting me in this somewhat wild of a career. It took him a while to grasp what I do since I had been blogging as a job for a few years before we started dating but now he KNOWS to as “have you shot this yet?” and “is this for a recipe you’re shooting?” before he eats anything LOL!

I have lots of posts here from recipes of all kinds, to gardening and health, to parenting and marriage, to crafts. I hope you find what you are looking for and more! If you have any questions, leave a comment on a post or hit that contact button in the top bar of the home page and I will get back to you as soon as I can!

  1. Found your site through Food Bloggers Central FB group. I’m telling my daughter to get out of the kitchen and stop by your site for a visit. She does most of the cooking for my own site. It’s time she steps out and gets her own site going. Yours is inspirational. 🙂

  2. Hi Maria, I have thoroughly enjoyed your site. I love your pimento cheese recipe too. 🙂
I’m obsessed with Pinterest just like you, oh, I love it. Sounds like you are a wonderful Christian gal and you sure know how to enjoy life. Keep up the good work. 🙂 You’re a great inspiration. Take care.
