Homemade English Muffins

Everybody has there favorite breakfast dishes.  Whether you like sweet or savory breakfast items English muffins are an item that can go both ways.   You can dress them up with jellies and jam or add a poached egg and ham.  We tend to not buy our bread items for cost and health reasons.  I mean homemade English muffins are so easy and cheap to make at home, we are pretty much getting ripped off in the store. On top of that can you even pronounce some of the ingredients? I mean this is suppose to be bread right not a science experiment.

I don’t know about you, but in my house fresh baked goods don’t usually see the next day unless I hide some of them. SO its a really good thing they are easy to whip up. Just get me a timer and a good book, and this girl could make 1/2 a ton a English muffins. 😉

English muffins are about one of the most perfect foods for carrying all of that delicious goodness to my mouth. With all of the nooks and crannies filled with butter and jam. Yep…delicious!

This is a super simple recipe and if you have made pancakes before you can make these babies, no problem. The process is very similar but with a 30 minute rise time. And you have to pour the batter into tins on the pan.

Homemade English Muffins | Ten at the Table | http://tenatthetable.com As long as you have enough rings, and a good cast iron pan (suggested but not necessary) it should go very smoothly! I only had one ring the first time I made it because I could only find one biscuit/cookie cutter, and didn’t want to open tuna cans just to make English muffins. So I just collected them from that point til I had about 4 or 5.

Add the remaining salt. Place 3" metal rings onto your pan. Fill them about half way up. Cover your pan with a lid and let it cook for 4-6 minutes. Flip (using tongs or oven mit) and cook 4-6 minutes more. Adjust your heat as needed. Place on a cooking rack, use a spoon to remove the English muffins from the tin, and cool.
