Mint Chocolate Coffee {a tutorial}

I discovered this recipe shortly after my buttermints post. Its a pretty interesting story so sit down. I mean, I know your probably already sitting, because you know….this is a…umm…blog. AHHHH! Just forget it y’all. Lets start the story.

mint chocolate coffee

My sister made some chocolate sauce one day and left it….alone….in a mason jar….on the table! 😯  Like who does that?!?! So the next morning I was going to make my  morning coffee, and I saw the poor baby sitting there. The panic was so strong y’all I could barely think!  My face=this:

Oh no she didn't!

All I was thinking about was how to get it all in my face before she found me sitting under the table with chocolate sauce all over me. And then I was like…wait, wont she notice the stuff has gone missing? At which point I turned my head towards the coffee make and forced myself to move forwards. When I was reaching for the honey to sweeten my coffee, I was like HEY! Chocolate sauce is mainly made up of honey right? So why not steal just a spoonful? She so won’t notice that!

And so, very sneaky like, I looked to see if anyone was coming and I backed up a couple steps to the table. Y’all, if anyone saw me I probably looked sooo guilty, but I figured everyone else was still sleeping so I went for it. I reached my hand out blindly grabbing the jar while I had my head trained on the door.  Once the subject was captured, the lone operative returned to base and made the subject talk. In other words I (struggled for a minute and) removed the lid and scooped out a heaping spoonful. Put it in my cup, and poured in the coffee. Y’all…as you can imagine, my excitement meter was much higher than a typical morning at 8:00.

So in my head I was like this:

But on the outside it was probably a little closer to this:

The product was super chocolaty and sweet coffee. It was kinda like hot chocolate, and coffee at the same time. I drank that for a few days before I saw the buttermint jar on the counter by the coffee pot. At which point I questioned myself as to why I had not noticed it there before. I am now assuming that it was because every time I am in that area of that kitchen, I am still half asleep trying to not miss my coffee mug when pouring the coffee. 😉

When I put a buttermint in my mug along with the chocolate sauce….MAGIC!!! Like, Oh my gosh y’all.Like Christmas in a mug. Like love in a drink. Like heaven peed in a cup. Okay….maybe we’re going overboard now. But you get the idea.

Anyways, let me show you how to make this bad boy:
