Easy Homemade Pizza {Freezer-Friendly}

Ever since I can remember my family has had homemade pizza for dinner on Friday nights. So in that time we have gone through countless recipes.

But most of the recipes we’ve tried haven’t turned out and I was tired of pizza night being a total failure. I like good pizza and I like making good pizza, but when what I make tastes off, it’s a little discouraging. I knew good pizza was a possibility but I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong.

My friend (after hearing me rant about my epic failure) offered to give me her favorite recipe that has always worked for her. I eagerly accepted and tried it the following Friday….

SUCCESS!!!!

Never had I tasted something so lovely! Ever!

And then I tried this one. It is so flavorful and it is simply glorious. The children actually got mad at me for not making more pizza last time! At least now I know to make more next time.

Seriously, everyone needs to try making pizza from scratch at least once in their life!

Easy homemade pizza dough is economical, fun, and healthful since you control the ingredients. We don’t even miss the ever so convenient  frozen pizza or the papa johns pizza.

Here’s the recipe:

Easy Homemade Pizza Dough {Freezer-Friendly}

Yield: 2-3 pizzas

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup warm water (110 degrees)
  • 3 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup unbleached pure cane sugar
  • 5-7 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • about 1/2 cup olive oil, divided

Instructions:

  • Place water, sugar, and yeast in the bowl of a stand mixer. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  • Add flour, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt and mix on low speed for 8 minutes.
  • Divide dough into 3 sections for thin crust or 2 sections for thick.
  • Place each section of dough in a separate bowl with a little bit of olive oil. turn the dough around in the bowl to coat the dough. Let rise about 20-30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
  • Dump the contents of a bowl onto parchment paper and very lightly, use two fingers to spread out to desired size.
  • Top with sauce, cheese & toppings.
  • Transfer entire pizza (including parchment paper) onto preheated pizza stone.
  • Bake in oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
  • Slice hot pizza and serve immediately. Store leftover pizza covered tightly in the refrigerator. Baked pizza slices may be frozen up to 1 month.

Notes

For a freezer pizza: Par-bake the crust 3-5 minutes and let cool completely. Top as desired, and freeze on a baking sheet until solid (about 3 hours). Once solid wrap the pizzas in plastic wrap and foil. This will store nicely in the freezer for up to 3 months. When your ready to eat it, unwrap the pizza dough and bake at 500 for 10-12 minutes.
