I basically “created” this recipe when I didn’t have anything planned. I had some sausage I needed used up and some dough in the fridge. The idea of a sort of lunch roll came to mind and I just started making it without much thought, and hoping it wouldn’t be so gross that my family couldn’t choke it down.
Homemade Macaroni and Cheese {Skip The Box!}
I was raised on Tyson chicken nuggets, Ramen noodles, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, Chef Boyardee Ravioli and Kraft mac and cheese. When we switched to homemade, it was pretty abrupt and I am pretty sure I had processed food withdraw. Not really, but I really missed the convenience and yumminess!
I have tried many, many recipes to try to replace the boxed stuff. And let me just tell you, they were all good. Well, most of them were but they just weren’t quite like the kind I was raised on. So I figured I’d play around with the ingredients, add a little bit of this, less of that, and I finally found the PERFECT recipe.
Homemade Corn Dogs
Corn dogs bring back so many great memories for me. But ever since I started trying to eat healthier, I knew buying processed corn dogs from the freezer aisle wasn’t the best choice. Especially when I took a look at the ingredients label. Corn syrup, soy products, and nitrates? No thanks. But when I found a recipe on Pinterest for homemade corn dogs, I knew it was worth a shot. Luckily, they turned out perfectly and were a hit with the family.
Beef Stroganoff
Normally my mother is the one to make the beef stroganoff. But last yesterday she was at the hospital all day with my great grandfather a.k.a. “Bumpa” (love that guy) so I was left to make it by myself. I don’t know why but I was always scared to make it. Kinda like my weird fear of serving lasagna…don’t judge.
